Ikebana is the ancient art of Japanese flower arranging, whose roots spring from Buddhist priests who made floral offerings at the altar of The Rokkakudo Temple. In the 15th century, the philosophy of Ikebana was established by Senno Ikenobo, who taught, “Not only beautiful flowers but also buds and withered flowers have life, and each has its own beauty. By arranging flowers with reverence, one refines oneself. The practice of Ikebana becomes a meditation where one honors nature, seeing the beauty of form and space in all things.
